IMN is an intercultural belonging and community engagement initiative that creates welcoming spaces for newcomers, racialized families, and youth to build relationships, share stories, and support one another. Through facilitated circles, shared activities, and peer-led leadership, the project strengthens belonging, promotes healing, and equips communities with the skills to foster inclusion and connection.
Create welcoming spaces where newcomers, racialized families, youth, and women can build meaningful relationships, share experiences, and connect with peers in a supportive, culturally inclusive environment.
Design facilitated circles and community conversations that allow participants from different backgrounds to share stories, explore culture, and build trust across languages, traditions, and lived experiences.
Offer gentle, community-based activities that reduce isolation, promote healing, and provide pathways to wellness for participants navigating migration stress, cultural transitions, and social exclusion.
Equip community volunteers, facilitators, and partner groups with tools and skills to support culturally inclusive spaces—strengthening their ability to engage newcomers and diverse communities confidently and respectfully.
Engage trained peer mentors and emerging leaders to facilitate circles, support participants, and model shared leadership, creating pathways for newcomers and youth to take on meaningful roles in community life.
Document learning, approaches, and best practices from the circles and events, and translate them into accessible tools and resources that can be used by community groups, agencies, and other partners.
